American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification and 1+ year of acute care experience for a hospital treating adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on the SLP unit
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with variable diagnoses
• 1:1 staffing ratio with an average daily census of 70
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary support services including Interpretation, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Respiratory, Social Services, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy
• Day shift schedule, 4x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Meditech EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Current CCC-SLP certification required
• BLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
• Valid Kentucky SLP license or compact license required, if applicable
• At least 1 year of experience in the field required
• Experience with dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and modified barium swallow studies
• FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow) experience preferred
• VitalStim experience preferred
• Experience with trach/vent patients preferred
• Experience with augmentative communication and adaptive equipment preferred
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions for travelers

Additional Information

• Perform patient assessments, evaluations, and reassessments
• Conduct dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and compensatory strategies
• Perform and interpret FEES and modified barium swallow studies as applicable
• Utilize adaptive equipment such as communication boards, memory aids, and Passy Muir valves
• Provide patient and family education
• Treat conditions including CVA, TBI, dysarthria, dysphagia, and degenerative diseases
• First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of experience in the field
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to confirmation
• Candidates must live outside a 65-mile radius of the facility as local travelers are not accepted
