Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of NICU or PICU experience for a pediatric and neonatal acute care position at a children's hospital, working day shifts in a team-based RT department.

Details

• Acute care setting within a pediatric and neonatal hospital department (NICU/PICU)
• Pediatric and neonatal patient population
• Handles approximately 20–25 treatments per day
• Uses Hamilton and Servo ventilators, Respironics and Hamilton BiPAP, and Fisher & Paykel HFNC
• Additional equipment includes Aerogen, Volara, Cough Assist, IPV, and NAVA
• EMR: Epic
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3x per week
• 6 weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage may be required
• No call or standby requirements
• No floating required
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a PICU and/or Level III or greater NICU
• RRT credential preferred; CRT may be considered
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NRP
• Epic EMR experience beneficial
• License required if applicable
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration (1 supervisor, 1 peer or additional supervisor)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities encompass all aspects of respiratory care, including airway management and intrahospital transport
• Intubation assistance only — independent intubation is not required
• Staffing model targets 8 RTs per shift; traveler will not be the only RT on duty
• Preference scheduling is permitted with commitment to weekend shift requirements
• Department-specific orientation is provided; duration depends on prior experience
• Scrub color: Stone/Light Gray
• Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning; cumulative time worked within the WVU system also applies (maximum 1 year before a 2-year break is required)
